This is a fully plastic free version of the traditional lip balm tube — the first plant-based, eco-friendly lip balm container that looks, feels, and functions just like a regular plastic lip balm tube — but contains zero microplastic, polymers, BPA, phthalates, or heavy metals, even in the pigments used. It's a game-changer!

The patent-pending material is a blend of bamboo powder, home compostable plant-based resins, and mineral oxide additives. It's not simply a molecularly-identical bioplastic that is made from bamboo (like sugarcane or wheat straw PET containers which still leach harmful microplastics), but rather a completely new, revolutionary material blend that is not plastic at all.  We’ve even gone the extra mile to obtain 3rd party certification for home compostability, ready biodegradability, non eco-toxicity, and non earthworm toxicity because downstream sustainability is just as important.

The black version has natural pigment derived from charcoal for more branding options compared to our Twisting 0.15 oz Plastic-Free Bamboo Lip Balm Tube which have a natural off-white color and contains small, visible plant material in the material.

    With the absence of plastic and petrochemicals, these zero waste lip balm tubes help reduce carbon footprints and cut down on the production and disposal of plastic packaging.  This innovative container reflects GreenWay Containers’ commitment to sustainability while meeting the growing demand for eco-friendly lip balm packaging from conscious consumers and brands.

    Shelf life: This packaging is designed for a multi-year shelf life, and brands have successfully tested for 2-3 year shelf life with filled products. Our studies show that our material would last about 20-30 years in an ambient environment (as opposed to 500+ years for PET plastic). At room temperature without prolonged moisture contact, the bioplastic tubes will last well beyond the shelf life of a product, meeting the perfect middle ground between durability and degradability. 

    Only once the package enters a commercial compost facility will it break down in < 90 days.
